Your school will share three numbers with you to use when opening your combination lock. Try to keep your numbers in a private place and try not to tell another student what your locker combination is so that no one other than you can get into your locker. You can ask a teacher or counselor to help you if you have trouble opening the lock. A teacher or counselor will keep your numbers private. The three numbers for your lock must be used in the exact order given. The dial will be turned to the right for the first number, to the left for the second number, and back to the right for the third number. Here is an example with pictures of how to open a locker that has a combination lock using “21-34-12”.

• Notice a notch or a triangle at the top of the lock. This is the point where you will stop at the number each time.
• Start at “0”.
• Spin the dial a few times to the right, pass the first number given (example, pass “21” twice). This resets the lock from the last time you used it. After that, spin the dial and stop on the first number “21” where the notch is as shown here.
• Then spin the dial left past the second number “34” and stop on “34” the second time it comes around.
  
• Then spin the dial to the right directly to the third number, “12” in this example.
• Then pull the lock down and the hook of the lock will be free on one side. Tilt the lock slightly to slide it away from the locker.

In this case, to open the locker, lift the lever after using the combination of numbers as shown in this video for the combination 06-28-42 (How to Open your Locker (youtube.com). You might need to practice opening your locker a few times before or after school and during lunch to make sure you can do it well. This way while you are learning the combination lock, you will not be late for class.
